This one is my fav.
Just take a couple dreads from the front of your hair and swirl them into buns, then secure with chop sticks. ^_^

Here's a dressier look I like to do:
Image
I pull up sections and tie them in a knot. I do three knots down the center back and then begin twisting and tucking all the dreads left hanging. Not a single pin.

Here's another messier look:
Image
I started too far back I think, but all I did was take small bunches and tie knots over knots, sometimes only 2xs, sometimes 3xs. I left some hanging at the bottom just for fun, but those could be knotted too.

No pics yet, but this is what I do:

~ Divide your head of dreads into around four sections, so each section reaches round from ear-to-ear.

~ Band each section up, so it ends up looking like you've got a dread-hawk, with four "bunches".

~ Take out the band from the top section, and let them hang down and arrange as neccessary. It looks really nice and full at the back, and nice and neat at the front.

I also experiment with the hanging section, like I'll elastic up half of them so I have additional pigtails and leave the rest loose to frame my face. :)

I got two pictures, just phone pictures but I hope you get the idea. ^_^

First up, the one with the dreadhawk and pigtails, lol... it looks awesome from the side, and nice and full/bouncy from the front.

Then the one with the top section left loose. I'm always going to have this style now, I love it. ^_^

I also would like to hear of other 'up-dos'. Im new to dreadies and have just installed my second set. Im not quite used to the weight and heat of them and end up tying them into bunches with a dread to keep them out of my face, but this isn't very glam! lol x

this was done by taking dreads from the front and tying in a knot at the back of the head, then taking random bunches of dreads and tying in knots over the other dreads, eventually you get a big knotted dread bun. this is how i ware my dreads most of the time, also in my little icon thing under my name.

This isn't my head, its a mates who's hair i did a few weeks ago.

Anyone got any ideas for a fun up-do with short dreads and an undercut? I'm going to see VNV on Friday and want to be a sassy as possible

I saw this really awesome up-do today!
I was on the bus and saw an older, Pacific Islander (I could be wrong) lady crossing the road. Although it didn't look like it as the roots, she did have natural dreads, which were beautifully wound in a bun off centre! It looked very sweet. She seemed to have quite long locks as they the bun was huge, but it was such a lovely style that I thought I'd share it! :D

Just wanted to post this up as it turned out really well for the VNV show, it was actually so good I used this style 2 nights in a row...
I took Cirquemachine's idea of the hawk in the back and down in the front but since I have an undercut & a lot of dreads in I ended up doing 4 bunches, 2 on either side and then left the front down. Here's some pics:

thought i'd add to the thread. This style was done with falls, pinning, tying, and threading some thru the others:

Thats how I wore my long ones. Take 2 bunches like pig tails, twist them together and make a bun out of them then secure with chopsticks. I found they had to be quite long to do this with though.
