Surprise Dread Swap? SWAPEES SET 19/11/2010

Post by Synful-Synthetics » Wed Oct 13, 2010 7:13 pm

I am quite literally pulling named from a hat because I couldn't think of any other way to do this.
Nobody will actually be partnered up in the senced that you make for them and they make for you.
Everybody will be making and receiving from somebody different
I will try to have pm's sent out to everybody in the next day in case anybody doesn't see it here.
Try to contact your partner to ask them about colors and such if you can :)

If you aren't sure what to ask your swapee this is what I sent to mine
"1. What is your normal hair color?
2. what colors do you love
3.what colors do you hate
4. What length do you normally like to have your dreads at"
Here we go...
Leanna Moore Making for -Librarynerd

-Librarynerd Making for -Phoenix

-Phoenix Making for Synful-Synthetics

Synful-Synthetics Making for Starlotus

Starlotus Making for -xxkinzixx

-xxkinzixx Making for -Flower In Furs

-Flower In Furs Making for dread_addiction

dread_addiction Making for Jynx

Jynx Making for CherryLex

CherryLex Making for Hellcity

Hellcity making for Leanna Moore

This dread swap will be world wide which means you must be willing to ship your dreads anywhere

Here are the rules
-You MUST be able to finish by the deadline
-This swap will be for a full set of dreads whether they be roving on synth. Full set being between 45-60 DE or 90-100 SE depending on how you do your thing. (I personally do a mixture because I think SE sit nicely around the hairline but I like the DE for bulk)
-You MUST be willing to work with your swapee when it comes to colors and styles they love and hate
-As the receiver you must be willing to send pictures to whoever makes your dreads if they request it for their portfolio
-And last but not least you MUST have fun!!!

I would like for the sets to be somewhat of a surprise to the person receiving them.
Of course if there are colors you HATE or if you always try to have some matching your current hair color then please tell the person making your set so that they can be sure to take it into consideration

The deadline for the complete swap will be January 31st

If you are finished before hand you are of course more than welcome to send them, I know Once I get started I can't stop :P

Will it be worldwide or are you keeping it to canada/usa?

I'm running a UK dread swap atm.....reading my "rules" may help you sort it all out, a swap can be a headahce some times :D

but yeah....I'm up for it. as long as the deadline is later....muuuuuuuuuuch later. I have a zillion things to do over the next few weeks.

I am going to make it world wide.

I will for sure check out your rules as I am completely new to this idea.
I was thinking of making the deadline for maybe around Christmas or sometime into the early new year.

I'm interested. But I'm not a pro dread maker yet but I think I could make a nice set.

Leanna Moore

I specialize in slightly fuzzy synthetic DE's that are half twisted and sealed, and half crinkly end ranging from 10-18 inches, and normal to thick in width, and have recently gotten the hang of making naturals (I love doing those!) ALL of my dreads are also made with the very tops unbackcombed, as I find they lay flatter for installs that way.

I also do harlequins, color splashes, wrappy's with natural-ish palmrolled ends, color blending and color marbling.

I can now make solid/plain roving. Textured or smooth.

So exciting! <Does a little dance>

I can try to put a survey together if you'd like..
I was hoping that we could just communicate what we really dont like with the person we get teamed with.

I am not completely sure how to go about a survey but I can give it a go

Librarynerd here!

I make synth twisted dreads only. Can do DE's or SE's, short or long, candy canes, blends, randoms, splash , and curlies. Haven't got the hang of transitionals or harlequins yet. I can also do silk, wire, or fabric beads wraps.
My dreads have a fairly even taper and I can do from micro to fat sharpie size. I use a steamer to seal.

I'm open to getting wool, twisted, naturals, or culies. Or a mix of styles. :i2:
Very excited to do my first full set swap.

Starlotus

Definitely interested; I'm fairly new to selling compared to a lot of you lovely ladies on here, but I've gotten great feedback from all of my customers thus far and I'd love to get some from some of the more seasoned dread makers on here.

I make DE twisted synths; I'm starting to experiment a lot more with naturals, but don't know that I'd be confident enough in my technique yet to make them for anyone but myself. I can do solids, blends, harlequins, candycanes, transitionals, splashed, etc. Straight dreadies only; haven't tried curlies yet :) My dreads are usually sharpie thick but I can make chunkier ones as well. Mine tend to have a fairly even taper all the way down, are very smooth textured, and I seal with a steamer. I also don't generally backcomb my middles (although I could) because I like how they hang much better that way, not sure if that matters to anyone.

Some pics:

Definitely excited for this :)

sign me up!
i do mostly twisted synth. SE or DE, can do candycanes, trans, splashes, blends, etc... range from pencil to sharpie thickness (tend to be more on the thinner side)
i'm not too shabby with roving either...
i don't have many pics as i've only really done dreads for myself and close friends, but i can scrounge some up if i need to :)

I make mostly synth dreads, short to medium (8-16")
I LOVE making transitionals, I also enjoy blending colors but I do no like making very long dreads.
I also do cyberlox/crin

Jynx

I make natural style dreads, in DE's, SE's, or harlequins. I can do wavy, curly, straight, or kinky ended dreads. I can NOT do crochet naturals (yet!)

 Oh my goodness!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for pointing it out. I would feel TERRIBLE if I didn't include everybody.
I think what happened was I was adding a few at a time and completely missed it. I have looked at your post and pictures a few times already but somehow managed to not get your name up. I am so sorry! I will add it this second
