That was a really helpful video!
My only wish was that there was a touch brighter lighting, it was hard to see what you were doing with the darker hair.

Backcombing is tricky for a first timer!

But with patience and practise, you'll become good very quickly!

Yay! For so long I thought I was doing something wrong but I actually backcomb just the same as you do... it just takes me about 3 times as long!

I did like your tip about the 'erection test', I will definitely try that in future.

I think I need more practise (and to stop getting distracted & watching telly when I'm meant to be backcombing!)

My fiance is now being very smutty about the erection test...

Cyberwench, lol @ your fiance! Don't give him any wrong ideas, because frankly, the dread will ALWAYS be bigger!
Shifuku, yes, I added it just over a month ago.
I figured people are asking and asking on how to backcomb, that someone needs to show them and explain while doing it.
Pictures don't exactly do justice on the technique, because it's hard to put it in words without visuals.
Thanks :) I luuuuuurve your blanketstitch tut too!

(First of all sorry for my english, I tried my best ;) )

I am a newbie in making dreads
I watch a lot of tutorial videos even Laras and the videos from doctored locks. And they were very helpfull - my results get better and better
but have problems with the backcombing. I backcomp and backcomp but it is never enough. I tried the stability test, I tried to hold it up, but mostly it collaps
then I backcomp more, and more agressiv
and at the end, the hair is much shorter and at the ending the hair is getting very thin. Sometimes the ending tears off :(

What did I do wrong? any Tips?

Thanks so much in advance!

Have you watched this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T6824FXbHY

It focuses on loops, but there is a bit about backcombing tension :)
