so.. i came back from a weekend away with a mate and he has natty dreads and i fell in love with them, i have had synthetic dreads for about two years.
i was well to scared to have them for real, so anyway i got back and decided that i wanted to give one natty dread ago im growning my hair any way but i wanted one now lol so i dread a section of my own hair left it for a day and a night and the got some human hair to dread and extend my little dread.
well after 13 years of colouring my hair my own dread was extremly sold, and this is what it looks like....

im going to leave it a week then crochet it again but its holding extremly well

Moonlight, your lone dread rules. I think a whole head would suit you extremely well! Love the color of your hair too. Probably one of my most favourite colors bluey-purpley :D

They're about 7 months old now. I used to have some really weird and wild dreads before. They where pretty much naturally dreaded. They looked really good until they started curling themselves into "s". And after awhile my hair where half the lenght it was from the beginning. So my mom helped me comb everything out x'S And then i made new ones at http://babayaga.se/

Here are my dreads at 7 months today. But, I extended two of them (damn it takes a long time) and I'm going to try to extend the other 4 by this time next month xD

And here's a closeup of the extension bonds. Not that obvious, but I could have done a better job.

I only have 6 dreads, but I think I'm going to add another row of them. I'd love to have a whole head of them, but I know that now isn't the time for that. I'm getting some 22" human hair in the mail soon though, so I'll be making some double enders of human hair to wear in the mean time :)

Oops, I'm editing this to add some more info.
I don't really do maintenance on them. I rarely wash my hair, only when I can literally smell my hair (disgusting). But when I wash them, they tighten up and it's a nice treat :3 Sometimes I'll crochet loose hairs in, but I just don't have the time to do that often anymore. I palmroll them and rub the roots absentmindedly.
I've been interested in yet doing a few dreads, but i wasn't confident it would look any good, you've confirmed that it would :)

After soo long of wanting dreads, here are a few pics! sorry if they are a little dark

my hair is pretty short, so they kinda look like Sonic the Hedgehog/Sideshow Bob/or just plain crazy liberty spikes

I need better pics, but here is one of my dreads just a few days old, while getting tattooed on my couch:

Gracey,
I love the depth of red in the first photo & if I ever have dreads then I'd want them the thickness of yours.
Gorgeous :D

Coming along nicely, barbie-embalmer. I love baby dreads, they make me jealous!

Thanks for the comments people! The first pic has the colour of my hair perfectly, don't know what happened on the second one, it looks like what I dyed over :P

Taken about a month ago, my dreads are 6 months old now and I'm getting ready to extend them via Vibrata's method, as soon as I can get some extension hair and get it dreaded up.

Nice dreads guys!

For people who are interested. I started the topic, so pictures of my dreads when they first started out are on page 1 and then again on page 2.

Here are some updated pictures. My dreads are now 2 years old! Yay.

I never really did any maintenance.. I might crochet them soon, there's some crazy loose hair going on.

EDIT: another one :)
