I've always wanted grey hair,

Forum rules
If it is fake hair related it goes in here!
1) Nice clear pic of the hair- we are not particularly interested in cam whoring - you want to show yourself off - put it in the gallery for 'everything else'.
2) When commenting - please be more OT than "wow you are freakin' hot!" We all like to be told we are hot mamma's - but mention the hair too!
3) Please don't be horrified if people give you helpful criticism. If you give criticism, please do so respectfully.
4) If you would like to NOT hear criticism, please say so.
5) If you are specifically looking to refine your technique, please post it in the "Critique" section (under Advice & Know How) so we can help be extra picky. ;)
6) The Show Off section is only for showing off hair, not making sales. Please make no references to eBay, A and P, or any kind of sales. You may offer the same item for sale in A and P, but no cross linking between A and P and Show Off. Show Off should be a place to comment and encourage each other; we don't want Show Off to become a billboard for sellers.

Could you go into more depth on your crocheting technique? I really like the texture

I did this kind of technique first - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgKqqVrFZV0
and then just randomly jabbed my tiny crochet hook in and out all over, as I wanted a messy effect :)

Did you find that your loops pulled out pretty easily or did they fight you? I was making a few to experiment and I think I may have backcombed too much. I was using a plastic hook from highlighting kits and I broke two or three of them.

To get my hair this colour I bleached it a few times to blonde (then decided to dye it pink, haha) after the pink had faded to a pale peachy pink I used Wella Koleston Perfect Special Mix in "0/81" which got me to a silverish colour, I wanted it darker so I put Pravana Vivids Silver (Diluted with some conditioner) over the top and it got me to a darker silver like the pictures show :)

AnarchoFett - I backcombed just as I normally would and didn't get a ton of loops, I palm-rolled before beginning to crochet each dread and then after I'd done, then sealed with boiling water. Loops can be pulled through and wrapped round the dreads with your crochet hook (this helps them look messy i think) just keep experimenting :) I use very small metal crochet hooks that my grandma has had for many years and they work a treat!

When I get older and all my hair turns gray, I want long real dreads... it's so pretty....
I totally get why you did this.
