Mixed Show Offering (edit: more pics)

Post by Gracey » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:34 pm

I have quite a lot of pics and not much time so I'll get straight to it.

First up, Jenny's natural dreads, extended at the same time with human hair.

Image

During the process, complete with scary-eyed snap of me.

Stasia's natural dreads. I did these for her last year. Before dreadfix and extension:

After dreadfix and human extenders:
Image

Sarah, first extensions. Loose curled open ended braids

Sarah's second extensions, crocheted synth. Pre install shots:

Laura, human dreads onto 4 inch hair:

A very old pic sent to me just recently. Photographed just before this was taken out, hence the halo:

And finally, first pics of my own current 'do. Mixed browns and blondes, loosely blended, with extra hair added during crocheting.

Pre-install:

Edited with some pics from today.

I'm calling these Rescue Dreads. Hoby had three-year-old dreads that he hacked off, then regretted it. He grew his hair to between 4 and 8 inches and today I dreaded his hair and crocheted his dreads back on. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Image

Image

And some shots of my own 'do how it was worn today. Sort of pigtails, or as close as I get; sort of mismatched and off-kilter.

And a couple of close shots.

My time is up, that's all folks.

Thanks for looking.

I had to go back up to see what I was wearing. That day was the bonkers heavy snow and -9 maximum temperature. The outfit was basically styled in a 'how many clothes can I feasibly get on today' vibe.

Thanks for the compliments on my hair; I haven't had time to have a faffle and thus am not completely sold on it yet. I only wear it straight back in a ponytail when I'm putting my slap on and it takes a while to get acquainted with what else it will do.

Oh, and just for you chat thread ladies... The Joker.

It's just you, doll haha. Though I can see what you mean on these ones; the last set were #10 and #27 and both of those feature in this one. The 27 moreso; I made them out of oddments I had lying around and I had just a smidge of #10 left from the last ones. Also in there is #4, #6 and #22.

Your work is so amazing. When I take the plunge into real dreads I'm coming to the UK, seriously!

The dread fix on the red head is gorgeous. How much time does a job like that take!?
Your new set looks sooooo natural, is it synth or HH?

Blimey woman you do such an amazingly good job with those fixes and extensions, if you hadn't said I wouldn't have thought they were extended at all!

Also, your personal dreads are quite possibly the nicest set of naturals I have ever seen on a human beeean and you look really beautiful with those particular colours. Stunning.

You are the mistress of dread, I salute you :ugeek:

I have to agree with some of the others, this is my favourite hair of yours since you got rid of the real dreads, gorgeous variety of shades in there :D

Everyone else looks great too. I love Laura's, and the red ones.

I've never seen a set of brown dreads that have even stirred a tiny bit of envy in me, but I must admit, I'd steal your skinny crocheted set in a heartbeat

Aw you guys. I've just come in from another long day at the Dread Mine and I'm exhausted, but these comments have made me feel great. Thank you all so much.

The red dreads are a personal triumph as she was suffering severe dread envy and now she adores her hair. The fix and extend took about 5 hours.

My own is all just jumbo braid. The great thing about them is that, even with a lot of hair added into them, I still probably only used about 3 and a half bags. Thanks so much to everyone who complimented them, I am growing to love them. I may add more pics as time goes on.
