Group Swap Rules
So you wanna join in on a group swap?
Please read the following carefully BEFORE joining
1) All swaps will have a 30 day deadline, you must send you package within this time frame
Hair swaps will have a 45 day deadline, that is 1 1/2 months
please make sure you can make this deadline before signing up
2) All packages will need some form of tracking number
( unless other wise noted )
you will need to e-mail this to me before the deadline
this tracking number lets me know the item was sent on time
sending a package late will result in no stars givens
not sending a package will result in a -2, yes a -2
so once again,
please make sure you are able to make the deadline before signing up
US shipping
number from a tracking slip, delivery confirmation or from a customs form as pictured here
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/vainvixen/form2976_f.jpg
International Shipping
Any type of number to verify the package was sent is prefered
or a CLEAR picture of the reciept will also be acceptable
3)Shipping over Seas
when filling out your survey there will be a question asking if you will ship internationally
just let me know that you will NOT ship over seas and i will do my best to accommodate this
if there is no one available in your area, you will have the option to withdrawl
4) you must have at least 5 stars to participate in any hair swap
Yes i know it seems like alot, but it's really the only way to weed out deadbeats
so even if they change their UID, they will still need to participate in 5 good swaps before being able to do a hair swap
5) Feedback for your items should be lefted in the appropriate forums
DO NOT leave it in this post
6) The point system does not reflect how good a product is
it is to simply say that you will recieve something
it is up to you to leave feedback for your item to let people know how you feel about it
excessive complaints will result in loss of swap privliges
7) to sign-up leave a message stating you want to participate in the specific post for that swap
We will add you to the list asap
if you do not see your name, please send the organizer a PM, they might have just over looked it
Once they get my list compiled they will e-mail everyone a survey to fill out
then you will have 3 days to reply to it.
then after they pair everyone up, they will send you your partner's survey
the deadline will begin from the day they send the survey BACK to you
when filling out your survey, please do not add graphics or change the font colors
this makes it much easier for me to sort everything
8 ) Disclaimer
Please be aware that when you participate in a swap that you are taking a risk
the chance that you might not recieve aything is present
I can release the Swaper's personal information that was given to me
but other than that it will be up to you to contact them as needed
Rules are subject to change to promote smoother transactions
= 1 swap
= 10 swaps
** Please DO NOT PM ME about updating the list
This is how i update the stars
once your swap is completely finished,
the organizer will contact me with a complete list of stars and negitive points
then everyone will be updated all at once,
instead of only a few people at a time
sorry about the confusion for those who were wondering

i'm not sure about the whole 5 star thing. i know it's to protect ppl in the swap but what if you want to take party in the hair swap but you're totally uninterested in the others? for example, i'm not fussed about stickers and what not but i'm interested in hair. is it just a case of you have to take part in swaps you don't really want to in order to gain access to the ones you do? _________________ Alternative Forums - The online home of Rock, Punk and Metal music.

Seems that way to me, but it's a utilitarian policy. In order to participate in something as large as a hair swap, you need to gain credibility. The last hair swap ended disastrously, if I recall correctly. A policy like this is mainly to ensure that when the time comes for a big swap, nobody gets screwed. Participate in 5 small swaps (come on...stickers are like a buck a sheet.) and you will be allowed to participate in a big one, where there is a LOT more at stake. _________________ I am Shiin. |

These rules are only for the Group Swap
What Shiin said is EXACTLY why i set that up
if you can't send something that you have to go buy for a buck
what makes me think you will send something you have to make and value at $60???
But if you want to just jump in a do a Hair Swap with someone
you could always just advertise that in the regular swap section
you dont need any stars to do that _________________ - vi

:[/quote]
if i make something i care about it means i'm proud of it and want to send it. buying a sticker doesn't fill me with enthusiasm and interest. it's nothing to do with the value and i'm sure there's gonna more swaps with other smaller items of more values than stickers. what i mean is i would feel bad not caring about sending someone something when they cared about sending something for me. if someone spent a bit of time finding stickers that they thought would really suit me and then cos i'm not fussed i got them and gave them away i'd feel bad.
but if that's the way it is, that's the way it is *shrug* _________________ Alternative Forums - The online home of Rock, Punk and Metal music.

yeah, i see you point, but i have no other chioce...?
i hate it when someone feels like they got the fuzzy end of the lollipop
but this is the best method i could come up with
if everyone was just honest and didnt take on more than they could handle
i wouldnt have to do this at all

I also think it's a bit rubbish to not let people join in any big hair swaps cos they don't want to trade little things. I know it may not work but how about making people send you maybe a deposit for a hair swap, or something? That way they can still join in, and if they DON'T send the hair, you can give the deposit to the person they ripped off? |

A deposit to swap? Isn't that kinda counter-productive? _________________ ph34r th3 h41r: Hair Alchemy |

Not if it is refunded on completion. It's just to make sure people can't run off with expensive items! |

lol... it SOUNDS like a good idea
i've actually thought about that too
but i would not want to be personally held responsible for all that money
even if a $30 deposit is required... multiply that by the number of people playing... scary
like i've said before, if you want to personally swap with someone on your own
you're more than welcome to do so
*** edited because i also wanted to say
if i was a scamer, i would pay the $30 just to get the dreads
if you think about it, no matter what i get ( asuming that i do get something)
it will prolly be worth more than $30
i mean, just to order dreads you will be spending atleast twice as much money
and if i didnt get anything i would get my swaper's deposit
and the deposit i put in would go to my swappee ( who did not get anything either )
sooooo... with the deposit theory the scamer will have lost nothing!
( a little confusing so i hope you understood what i said ) _________________ - vi

I think it all sounds pretty well organised and I think you have done a marvellous job in setting the rule Vainvixen
I know I would be willing to participate in the smaller swaps so I could be a part of the bigger ones... Its all about the effort you want to put into something!
I look forward to participating in some swaps soon... Once everything here has settled down at least. |

Yes i understand completely, but on that same notion.. If i wanted to rip someone off and get some dreads. I would think nothing of participation in 5 $5 swaps to give myself a 'good' name
Oh well i guess its one of those situations where someone is always gonna loose out lol!

i think it takes alot of dedication to participate 5 times!
considering the swaps last about 1 and a half months, sometimes longer
( sign-up, surveys replies, a month to send, and two weeks for late arrivals ) _________________ - vi

oooh all this sounds lots of fun but iv confused my little self...do i have to have 5 stars if i want to take part in the makeup, stickers, etc etc swaps??? cos i would really enjoy that, or do i have to gain my stars before i can join in ANY of the group swaps, or just hair swaps??? _________________ *its not about style...its a way of life* |

you get the stars for taking part in the little swaps like the make up, stickers, etc and use those stars to take part in the bigger hair swaps.. i think _________________ Alternative Forums - The online home of Rock, Punk and Metal music.

Yes, that's right. You can participate in any of these smaller swaps with no stars at all, and if you prove to be a good trader you will be awarded stars. Once you've accumulated 5 stars, you are welcome to participate in a hair swap. 5 stars proves that you are a reputable and trustworthy trader, so that with any luck, nobody gets screwed over in a large swap. This policy is designed with everyone's best interests in mind, nobody likes to get ripped off. _________________ I am Shiin. |

it just means you post a reply in the swap thread saying you'd like to be included. these rules are for group swaps, not between individual ppl. this is the latest group swap thread and it should give you an example of what i'm talking about _________________ Alternative Forums - The online home of Rock, Punk and Metal music.

If you want to participate in a group swap, just leave a post on the thread for that swap.
If you want to swap something individually with one person, either post up the items you have for swap in their own post (like this), or respond to someone's swapping post whose items you like.

Vain Vixen, I owe you an apology! In re-reading the Group Swap rules, I saw the line about not pm'ing you about star updates. This, of course, after I already pm'd you. I know you put alot of work into managing the swaps, and am sure you don't need any more board members who can't read the rules and pm you like a crazy person!
I'm still a little confused on the star system and how the updates are made, and I'm hoping someone can help to clarify for me? I'm just not sure about how to go about getting all of my stars listed... if the person I sent to has put a comment in the thread saying they received their item, is that all that's needed? And how do the stars get added to the master list?
I'm really looking forward to participating in some of the bigger swaps, but it seems so far away if I've only got 1 star and should have 3. Help! _________________ Girl From The Audience |
