I'm not sure how much you'd need, but you defintiely wouldn't braid it in DE style -- braid the hair (if its short, use some synth braids to make it longer), then tie a few strands of plastic at the base with more tied down the length of the braid. The section right below the Pepi's pictures on Quinnster explains it

The reason you do it that way instead of DE style is that it gives a lot more volume, and volume is important when working with plastic because its so heavy. _________________ For every sprinkle I find, I shall kill you. |

depending on your double ended braiding, 2pieces of extension to 1 piece of hair, you can do it this way.
then tie added plastic to the braid along the length.
tho i recommend only using pepis plastic for this. as its light weight, rexlace, and other types of plastic tubing from the hardware shop will tear your client's hair out.
for that hair style you'll need roughly 300 meters of tubing in 1mm, and about 250 meters in 2mm or bigger.
it takes alot of plastic to get volume, and i would suggest shorter bits nearest the root, and longer at the ends for a nice layered look. |
