Ok here is it goes...
Im doing hair for a big performance, and would like to make some of this thingies

I think this is made with sewing or gluing the hair together . Did any of you tried something like that?

I tried sewing the hair together, and adding some wire, it worked fine, but my sewing machine broke down so i was thinking to glue the thing together.

If you have any ideas pleas let me know ;)

I've seen short clips of 'feather' hair that has a wire down the middle. they're at amphigory.com. not sure if they'd be long enough.

my other idea, i think this is what wiccan_willow was getting at, take two wefts, sew the track together, and you could insert some wire in that way as well. just put the wire between the two wefts.

Hmmm the two wefts idea is good. I tried to make something like that, i made one weft seaweed in the middle, the problem is that I have to figure out how should the wire be added. It shouldn't be visible, an the weft shouldn't rotate round it.

In my city i can only dream of buying it made that way :(

if you were really really careful you could probably make a very thin casing for some thin (probably plastic coated, to match the hair) wire much like a corset has..

use narrow lace, ribbon, or mesh down the center, with 2 lines of stitching very close (even a double needle if you use a small enough diameter of wire) just be sure to think about stitch length in regards to your fabric - you don't want to perforate the fabric so it falls apart either

you could probably use a line of glue - even something like liquid gold - over the stitching afterwards to add strength to the casing so it doesn't tear away from the weft

you can get welfs at ikickshins.net really cheap. All you'd have to do is glue two different sections together.
